Here’s how to make flavored water naturally and deliciously. These fruit, veggie, and herb combinations will change your mind about water being boring. You’ll love water naturally!
Boring, tasteless, and yuk are some of the things people say about water. Sometimes (okay, maybe often), I don’t want plain water either. I don’t think plain water is yuk, but it lacks pizazz. Lately, I need pizazz. You too?

Look at all the ways I made flavored water!
Nature’s perfect drink
At least 50% of your body is water. You need water to lubricate, cool your body, and shuttle nutrients around.
Saliva is largely water. Imagine swallowing peanut butter (my favorite on toast or simply a spoon 😋) if your salivary glands didn’t produce enough saliva!
Why love water naturally?
- Zero calories
- Zero carbs
- Zero saturated fats
- Inexpensive
People are shocked at the difference a single change can make. Countless clients better manage their weight, diabetes, prediabetes, and energy levels after ditching sugary drinks.
But plain water does have that dull factor.
Allow me to rescue you from boring plain water and show you how to make flavored water naturally.

Water infused with cucumber and mint is so refreshing. So is water with cucumber and lavender.
How to make flavored water naturally & deliciously
Jazz up water with your favorite flavors. Here are some of my favorite ways to flavor water naturally. Just know your infused water creations are limited only by your creativity.
- Cucumber slices and mint
- Cucumber slices and lavender
- Orange slices or orange and lemon slices
- Lemon slices and grated ginger root
- Blackberries, lime slices and mint
- Pineapple cubes and orange slices
- Cantaloupe cubes, lemon slices and mint
- Peach slices and basil
- Peach and orange slices and basil
- Blueberries and strawberries
- Orange and kiwi slices
- Rosemary and ginger
- Lemon and ginger slices with mint
- Strawberry and lime slices with rosemary (my fave). Look at the photo at the top. Isn’t that pink color so inviting?
Some flavor combinations taste bright and refreshing within just a few minutes. Citrus fruits are good for fast flavor. Others sit in the refrigerator for several hours before they deliver their best taste.
Pro tip #1: You do not need a special water bottle or pitcher. They’re nice to have, but not necessary.
Pro tip #2: Before adding herbs like basil or mint, gently crush them in your hand to release their flavors.
Other ways to enjoy water
- Experiment with sparkling water. Add your own flavors or buy zero-calorie or low-calorie sparkling water in the supermarket. I know it’s impossible to be addicted to sparkling water, but I crave some of my favorite flavors, including lime, ginger, and pink lemonade. In the picture above, I added diced watermelon and fresh mint to watermelon-flavored sparkling water. I felt like I was treating myself to something extravagant.
- Sip tea. Yes, both hot and iced tea count as water. And tea is a great way to flavor water naturally. Even if it has caffeine. Here’s how to brew the perfect cup.
- Worry less. Coffee, milk, and even food (rice is made with water, for example) count toward your body’s fluid needs.
